SINAM NEWS SINAM-Engineering Pathway Collaboration SINAM has started a new collaboration with Engineering Pathway (EP) to share our educational materials, including our popular programs like Discover Nanotechnology Grades 7-12, and Nanomanufacturing Summer Academy for Undergraduate, to a broad range of audiences. EP is a digital library served as the engineering “wing” of the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and has over 6,000 registered users and approximately 1.4 million hits with 300,000 page views per month. Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. More Information 2009 SINAM Workshop
Workshop pictures can be found here and also a contact list of our SINAM student network can be found here. Thank you to all SINAM faculty, students, and postdocs for participating in the 2009 SINAM Workshop! Over a span of a day and a half, SINAM faculty shared their projects with each other, bridging the gap between various groups and opening up channels of collaboration. The first day concluded with the Student Leadership Council meeting. We received constructive feedback from students about our education outreach and student network infrastructure. The second day breakout sessions were full of new and innovative ideas for SINAM's future. Your voices were heard and your comments were discussed in the executive meeting. We reached an agreement that our education outreach does not have to be narrowed to nanomanufacturing, but instead can be nanoscience in general. Besides our annual workshop and student outreach, SINAM will also support and fund other student networking activities which will help promote bonds between students and faculty. We noticed that we have exciting new research directions and focuses for the new phase. We want to capitalize the great research we have done in phase I and advance to application and product oriented research which will have large societal and economical impact, such as in the area of energy and healthcare. It was a nice gathering for our SINAM annual workshop, and our great pleasure to meet all of you. Any suggestions and comments are very welcome in order to help us improve our next SINAM workshop experiences. We sincerely hope the phase II SINAM operation will be a successful and exciting experience.
